How to get here

The national park “Yugyd va” is situated in the far north-east of the European part of Russia, on the territory of the Komi republic.

The Directorate of the park is located in the Vuktyl town, and its subsidiaries – in the Pechora and Inta towns. You can get to the park from the towns Vuktyl, Inta, Pechora, the villages Synya, Aranets, Kosyu, Kozym-rudnik, Kozhim, Priuralskiy and others.

There is one settlement on the territory of the park – the Podcherie village, which can be reached by bus from Vuktyl. Other settlements are located within tens of kilometers from the park’s borders.

Appropriate flights routes are: Moscow - Syktyvkar, St Petersburg - Syktyvkar, Syktyvkar – Ukhta, Syktyvkar – Pechora.

The towns Inta, Pechora, the villages Synya, Aranets, Kosyu, Kozym-rudnik are located on the north railway Moscow-Vorkuta. The fast trains stop only in Pechora and Inta.

The best way to get to the northern part of the park (the Sub-Polar Urals) is by train. A local train runs between Pechora and Inta 3 times a day.

There is an earth-road from Inta to the mountains, suitable for GAS-66 and URAL-type cars. It is a 80km drive to the Kozym river ford, 100km to the Sanavozh base, 130 km to the Zelannyi base, where a quartz mine is located.

Another earth-road runs from the station Kozhim-rudnik, subsequently adjoining the Inta-Zelannyi road after the Kozhim river crossing.

The southern part of the park (the Northern Urals) can be reached from Vuktyl, where you can get from the Northern railway station at Ukhta by bus (about 230km). The regular bus to Vuktyl leaves from the railway station and the coach station in Ukhta. The road from Vuktyl runs eastwards and crosses the upstream regions of the rivers Ilych, Podcherie, Shchuger. You can reach the sources of the rivers Podcherem and Shchuger taking this road. The road is departmental (it belongs to “Gazprom” and is used to maintain the gas pipe-line “Sijanie Severa”, which runs through the territory of the park), a special permit is needed to use it, which can be ordered in advance. In July-August the road may be closed due to the high forest fire risk.

The estuaries of the Shchuger and Podcherem rivers can be reached by water transport on the Pechora river from Vuktyl and Pechora.

The village of Aranets on the Pechora river is 50 km way from Pechora town, and the route is serviced with a regular bus. The tourist path from Aranets to the border of the park is 50km long.

Certain regions of the park can be reached by helicopter from Pechora and Vuktyl, where there are flight formations available, or alternatively from Inta airport.
